Courtney “Curty” Louis is a vocalist, songwriter and producer from Saint Lucia. He was born on November 20, 1980 and attended the Canon Laurie Anglican School followed by the St Mary’s College where the first song he wrote won the school’s calypso competition. Since then his musical productions have amassed a Groovy and Power Soca Title in Grenada – Mr Killa’s “Spice Isle Rock” (2006) and “Warriors” (2006). He also has one Road March Title in Trinidad for the 2007 Machel Montano song “Jumbie”. His first title in Saint Lucia was the Power Soca Monarch which he won with Alpha’s “Happy Birthday Carnival” (2006). In 2012 he secured a second Power Soca Monarch title with “Born To Mash Up” (2012) by Superman HD. One year later in 2013 – his productions would win the Groovy, Power and Road March titles when Ricky T did a clean sweep of that year’s competitions with “40 Days 40 Nights” (2013) and “Mass Attack” (2013). The wins brought his title haul in Saint Lucia to 5 and his total to 8.
Louis is the founder and CEO of Dutch Productions and musical label Stratosphere Muzic who in August 2013 signed a publishing deal with Believe Digital. In 2007 he won three COTT Awards – New Male Songwriter of the Year, Best Soca Song and Song of the Year for his work on “Jumbie”. One year later in 2008 he was awarded the inaugural Producer of the Year award at the St Lucia Music Awards. His work has appeared on international compilations like Soca Gold 2007 and Island Hits which was released by LIME in 2006. In 2010, Saint Vincent artiste Tabia won three Tha Underground Awards in Bermuda with his production, “Boom Boom Boom” (2009). His songs have also been nominated for awards in the UK and in 2013, Mongstar won the inaugural All for One Caribbean competition with his productions “Glo Ko Ko” (2011) and “Saint Lucia We Love” (2012).
